During this past November, my brother and I had one of the wildest experiences in New York City. We took the train into Grand Central Station in the morning and planned to stay the whole day, catching the last train possible that night. Arriving at nine that morning we would have a solid 10 hours until we had to catch the seven o'clock train home. It was our first time going in to the city at this time of the year, and it was a lot different than what we were used to. The streets were not as crowded with people as in the summer, all the leaves were off all of the trees in Central Park, and the wind whipping through the streets and around buildings was very strong. Besides this the day was amazing everything about New York was great, especially during this time of the year. Shops start putting Christmas decorations up, Radio City is getting ready for the incredibly huge Christmas Tree, which is a staple of the city during the holiday season. This was also not cheap for a couple of college kids. Anything that looked cool, or any food that smelt good, we just had to have. By the day’s end, we had two bags full of classic New York goods, but we did have one major problem. My brother had dropped his wallet in Central Park, and we could not find it; and for the rest of the day I had spent the rest of my money and we had nothing left to buy our tickets for a ride home. Around five we returned to Central Station and we were trying to figure out a way to piece together thirty bucks for train tickets. The only thing we had was stuff we brought throughout the day, our phones, and my Ipod Touch. We only had one choice, we had would blast music from my Ipod touch and try our luck at collecting money from people on the streets with our less than average dance skills. To say the least, both of us were utterly terrible. Neither of us had any prior skill and our showing was very embarrassing. We had about an hour and a half before the train would leave and we had to get on that train or we would be stuck in the train station for the night. Getting a crowd around us was tough; two young guys showing off mediocre moves with a baseball cap in front of us for collections just wasn’t enough. A half hour went by and we collected a total of five dollars. It was looking like we would be in some serious trouble, and we had to get creative fast. Finally we had a breakthrough. Our goal was to get people around us and people would stop to watch if they saw something ridiculous. The plan? Dance in nothing but our boxers in the freezing cold. At least people might pay us for being courageous in the New York winter. Well, it actually worked less than an hour later we banked fifty dollars. We had time to spare and an extra twenty dollars in our pockets. Finally gathering ourselves, and putting our clothes back on, we ran to purchase our tickets and then ran to the platform for our train. Riding back home, nothing was more satisfying; we were exhausted, but very happy with our success at the station. Although my brother lost his wallet, and we were in desperate need of cash, we both had one of the greatest times in our life and this would be something that everyone who saw would never forget.
