TENDER MOMENTS OF TIMES PAST:
Things I Have Missed

After sitting with one another for the better part of an afternoon she turned to him and said: “What have you missed?”

After a few moments he replied:

I have missed the warm sunshine on my face as the sun rises in the East.

I have missed the gentle touch of someone I love when they reach over in the morning before getting out of bed and squeeze my hand ever so softly.

I have missed the sound of silence while being with someone and knowing that I didn't have to speak yet the message was relayed through the silence of the moments passing by ever so slowly.

I have missed the laughter of someone who suddenly, and without encouragement of any kind, when I brought up a memory and shared it.

I have missed the visits to the beach on days when it was stormy and cold, so cold that you couldn't even get out of the car, yet you could witness the power of nature as the waves crashed of the way up on the lighthouse. It stood firmly in the face of nature and I was reminded of how firm my love was for the one I was with at that time knowing that it too stood firmly in the face of what were sometimes difficult times.

I have missed the knowing smile when I would say "isn't it about time for bed?" and the response was "yes, it is already 7PM. I guess it is time for bed."

I have missed the smell of chicken being deep fried in the pan while my partner in life sat quietly by talking and telling me of her day.

I have missed that ever so quiet voice saying to me "this is the one I have provided for you. Cherish her forever."

I have missed those impromptu road trips when nothing was packed or planned yet the journey was undertaken anyway.

But most of all...
I have missed... You
